AISTS Founders

The AISTS was founded in 2000 by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the EPFL, the University of Lausanne (UNIL), the University of Geneva (UNIGE), IMD Business School, Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL), the City of Lausanne and the Canton of Vaud. 

The unique nature of these relationships rests in the principle that the AISTS holds a privileged position in the world of sports while the founders have significant influence on AISTS decision-making. 

IOC (International Olympic Committee)

The International Olympic Committee is the supreme authority of the Olympic Movement whose goal is to build a peaceful and better world by educating youth through sport practised in accordance with Olympism and its values. The mission of the IOC is to promote Olympism throughout the world and to lead the Olympic Movement.


EPFL is one of the most famous European institutions of science and technology welcoming professors and staff from over 120 nationalities. EPFL has three core missions: training, research and technology transfer.

IMD Business School

IMD is the world’s leading graduate business schools. It serves the international corporate community, helping develop and retain the best qualified management talent for global leadership.

UNIL (University of Lausanne)

Founded in 1537, the University of Lausanne is composed of seven faculties where approximately 13'000 students and 2'400 researchers work and study. Emphasis is placed on an interdisciplinary approach, with close cooperation between students, professors and teaching staff.

UNIGE (University of Geneva)

The University of Geneva is listed as one of the top 12 research universities in Europe. Renowned for its high level of excellence, the University offers a wide spectrum of academic courses in diverse fields of study such as the exact and natural sciences, medicine, social sciences and the arts.

EHL (Lausanne Hotel School/Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne)

City of Lausanne, Olympic Capital
